MISSOULA – An agricultural promotional pamphlet from the University of Montana’s Archives and Special Collections at the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Library appears on the cover of the June 2013 issue of College & Research Library News.
The pamphlet, titled “The Fertile Flathead Valley Montana,” and other similar materials were designed and published by irrigation companies and civic associations to entice Easterners and Midwesterners to purchase land in the Pacific Northwest.
The College & Research Library News is an official publication of the Association of College & Research Libraries. With a membership of more than 12,000, it is the largest division of the American Library Association. The publication is distributed nationally to association members and college and university libraries.
