UM President Visits Flathead and Mission Valleys on Fifth Stop of Outreach Tour

January 28, 2014

MISSOULA – University of Montana President Royce Engstrom heads to the Flathead and Mission valleys as part of the “We are Montana” tour of the state. Engstrom and other senior UM leaders will travel to seven towns Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 3-4, to meet with and listen to educators, alumni, students, legislators and community members.

“These valleys are almost in UM’s backyard, so it’s vitally important we work to strengthen our connections with the people we serve there,” Engstrom said. “We always work to improve our connections with all Montanans across this great state and share the stories of our outstanding students, faculty and alumni. This outreach tour will help us achieve those goals.”

The fifth leg of the tour travels to St. Ignatius, Ronan, Pablo, Polson, Kalispell, Whitefish and Columbia Falls.

Engstrom is scheduled to meet with leaders at S&K Technologies in St. Ignatius, and plans to meet with Salish Kootenai College President Robert DePoe III in Pablo.

University officials aim to visit numerous high schools on this leg of the tour, including Ronan High School and Polson High School on Monday, Feb. 3, and Kalispell Glacier High School, Kalispell Flathead High School, Columbia Falls High School and Whitefish High School on Tuesday, Feb. 4.

Prior legs of the president’s “We are Montana” tour stopped in 19 towns. Engstrom is scheduled to visit additional cities across Montana through the winter and spring, traveling a total of 3,500 miles.
