High School Students Flock to UM Oct. 3 for Math Day

October 01, 2014

MISSOULAThe University of Montana’s 2014 Math Day will launch at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, in the Gallagher Business Building.

Math Day is a one-day event for eighth- through 12th-graders who enjoy solving puzzles, learning mathematics and figuring things out.

The event runs all day and is composed of a variety of hands-on workshops on topics that go beyond the classroom, including counting to infinity and understanding how music and math relate.

Students are invited to come on their own or with their teachers, and teachers are encouraged to bring classes on a field trip to this Missoula County Public Schools-sponsored event. Students and teachers also are invited to participate in the Missoula Math Circle, which meets at 3:30 p.m. on Mondays throughout fall semester.
