MISSOULA – Two Missoula College University of Montana welding students recently have been selected to receive $1,000 Gianforte Foundation scholarships for spring semester 2015. Ethan Kliewer of Glasgow and David Rhodes of Missoula, both second-semester industrial technology education students, were awarded the scholarships to help fund tuition and fees.
The Gianforte Foundation announced in December 2014 that the $500,000 scholarship donation would support students enrolled in manufacturing programs at two-year colleges in Montana. Greg Gianforte said the scholarship donation is about creating opportunities for Montana students so they may receive training to meet the demand for well-trained workers in Montana industry.
Scholarship recipients at two-year colleges across Montana were chosen based on academic success, full-time status, financial need, and educational and career goals. Rhodes, a military veteran, received additional consideration for the scholarship because of his veteran status.
The scholarships will cover up to 50 percent of tuition for Rhodes and Kliewer and will be offered for four semesters or until they complete their programs.
