MISSOULA – The University of Montana Student Involvement Network will host an International Women’s Day banquet from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 13, in the University Center Ballroom.
International Women’s Day focuses on the global theme of gender equality with the catch phrase “Make it Happen.” The event will include a panel of Montana women in leadership, including Montana Lt. Gov. Angela McLean, UM Dean of Students Rhondie Voorhees, UM Outdoor Program Senior Assistant Director Elizabeth Fricke and UM Environmental Studies Professor Neva Hassanein. Drew Colling, director of UM’s Student Advocacy Resource Center, also will be on the panel. Following an introduction by Women & Gender Studies Professor Anya Jabour, each of the panelists will discuss how to achieve gender equality in their fields of expertise.
In addition to the panel, the banquet will feature cultural presentations and exhibits featuring community and campus organizations. A silent auction will raise funds for future programming benefiting women on campus.
Tickets cost $10 for students, $15 for community members and UM faculty and staff members, and $20 if purchased the day of the event. Tickets include a catered dinner and are available at The Source in the UC and at the UM Women’s Resource Center in UC Room 210.
