MTPR Podcast 'Threshold' Named to Best of 2017 Lists

January 17, 2018

MISSOULA – The Montana Public Radio sponsored podcast “Threshold” was named to two year-end lists of the best podcasts from 2017.

Threshold was listed as one of “The Best New Podcasts of 2017” by Outside Online. See the full list at

“In its first season, the podcast ‘Threshold uses the topic of bison to dive deep into conservation, politics and the history and future of the U.S.,” wrote Outside Online Managing Editor Abigail Wise. “I binged hard on this one – the storytelling and engrossing topic will make you think about bison and our country in a new and complex way."

The podcast also made the list of "100 Outstanding Pieces of Audio for 2017" by the Bello Collective. The article is online at

“We were so honored to be included on these lists and being honored for our hard work,” said “Threshold” producer Amy Martin. “We’re glad we’re able to do the in-depth work to tell these stories.”

“Threshold” explores one story about the natural world over a series of episodes, and asks what that story says about us. The first season was all about bison – the history of our tangled relationship with this iconic animal, and the choices we currently face that will shape its future.

Martin and her team are hard at work producing season two of “Threshold,” which will take listeners on an epic journey around the Arctic. The new season will premiere later this year. Learn more about the podcast at or
